As the school year came to an end, 50 girls of Beis Rivka’s first and second grades travelled on a group trip to the Ohel.
In years-gone-by, teachers would often come together with their students to the Rebbe. On various occasions teachers would bring their class for special yechidus, and later more commonly for dollars. After a year of instilling her students with Chassidishe pride and Hiskashrus to the Rebbe, Mushkie Shmotkin, a first grade teacher at Bais Rivkah, decided to bring her students to the Ohel.
A year had passed since last year’s trip, where 25 girls took a bus to the Ohel with some of their mothers and sisters.
However this year the group grew, with the first grade class inviting last year’s girls to join once again. Morah Kesselman of second grade was delighted to participate with her students, and plans were soon underway for a meaningful day packed with hiskashrus.
During the weeks beforehand, the girls excitedly prepared with stories and songs about traveling and writing to the Rebbe.
Finally the big day arrived. The girls first met at 770 where they davened shacharis, before boarding a bus to take them to the Ohel. The girls chanted Pesukim and tehillim all throughout the journey.
Since the trip took place on a day with no school, the girls didn’t wear their uniform. Instead, after learning how important it is to come to the Rebbe dressed as one entering yechidus, they came wearing their prettiest Tznius clothes.
When the girls arrived at the Ohel, they first watched a short video of the Rebbe, before filling the tables of the tent where they each spent their time carefully writing their Panim and letters to the Rebbe. Tzedaka was given before the girls headed to the Ohel with their teachers.
“It was a very inspiring trip” said a parent, “What a great way to end the year! It was so so special.”
After spending some time at the Ohel, the girls came back to the tent where they washed Negel Vasser and enjoyed their cookies before heading to the trailer for lunch and a farbrengen. United, they proudly sang and danced with all the songs they had learned as part of their Hachana.
An appreciative mother commented, ”What a hands on experience of Hiskashrus. The girls will never forget this memorable trip!”
The entire group thanks the kind and generous sponsors of the bus and to JEM for the Pictures of the Rebbe that were given to each child who attended.
