Students from six Yeshivas in Florida converged on the Yeshiva Gedolah of Miami this past Shabbos, in the true spirit of unity.
Bochurim from the Klurman Mesivtah of Miami and from Yeshivas Torah Ohr of North Miami, Mesivta of Coral Springs, Mesivta of Jacksonville and Smicha of Boca Raton made the long journey to spend Shabbos with the Bochurim of the Yeshiva Gedolah of Miami, who were frantically inflating dozens of air-mattresses, schlepping boxes of soda and nosh and getting that last Jew to put on teffilin before catching the bus back to yeshiva to greet their guests.
Finally, all the yeshivas arrived, amidst great excitement!
After a short while the visiting Bochrim had settled in, (woe unto anyone trying to catch a little shut-eye before Shabbos!) and were happily devouring the kugels prepared by the shcool’s chef Rico.
As Shabbos came in the bochurim found themselves at an inspiring seder niggunim led by Rabbi Lipsker, which was followed by kabbolos Shabbos and divrei torah given by Head Shliach to the State of Florida, Rabbi Avrohom Korf.
The inspiring Seudas Shabbos followed, with Divrei Torah given by Hatomim Sholom Gutleizer of Yeshiva Gedolah Miami and story told by Hatomim Ezra Rosen of Yeshivas Torah Ohr of North Miami Beach.
As the meal progressed, the Yeshivas were joined by Hanholah-staff members of the Zal and the Mesivtas. In attendance were Rabbi Bentche Korf, Rabbi Velvel Lipsker, Rabbi Schurder, Rabbi Shusterman and Rabbi Issacovitch. The students later went on to the home of Rabbi Y. Zavdi for the Sholom Zochor celebration of his newborn son Eliyahu, which went on to the wee hours of the morning.
In the morning, the bochurim were quickly roused for Shabbos Mevorchim Tehillim with the combined efforts of the hanholas from multiple Yeshivas, and headed downstairs for Tehilim where doughnuts awaited the Bochurim. Tehilim was led by R’ Bentche Korf.
Following the Torah reading, Hatomim Zalman Denburg of Coral Springs Mesivta said a sicha, this was followed by Musaf.
The spirited Seudas Shabbos was highlighted by the Bris of Rabbi Zavdi’s son, after which seudas shabbos continued with Hatomim Yossi Wachtel of Mesivta of Jacksonville who delivered a dvar Torah followed by bentching, putting the tables together, and the fabrengen began.
The Farbrengen was led by Rabbi Mendel Gordon, Mashpia of Yeshiva Gedolah of London, who fabrenged on the topics of connecting with the Rebbe after gimmel Tammuz and the importance of mivtza Rambam.
Motzoei Shabbos a grand Melaveh Malkah was held. Rabbi Leibel Shapiro – Rosh Yeshivah and Rabbi Shusterman – Magid Shiur of Coral Springs addressed the crowd, both of whom spoke of the importance of utilizing the chayus from the this Shabbos throughout the year. Hatomim ha’shliach Binyamin Kriegsman said a story of the Baal Shem Tov as well.
Special thanks to hatomim ha’shliach Levi Shaw for making this Shabbos possible. Special thanks to Rabbi Gordon for making the trip to spend Shabbos with the yeshivas of Florida.
He is the best!
