This past summer, alumni from Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad (YOEC) in Los Angeles, California, who graduated in 1996, gathered together for a momentous occasion during a special Hakhel Reunion Shabbos.
The primary aim of this Shabbos was to foster a sense of unity and camaraderie among former classmates, creating a memorable and uplifting experience for all.
Throughout the weekend, the atmosphere resonated with an incredible spirit of togetherness and joy. They spent time with the Roshe Yeshiva and Hanhala, farbrenged together, and rekindled the special connection with their Yeshiva. The entire weekend was filled with extraordinary energy and proved to be an overwhelming success.
This meaningful weekend culminated in a powerful hachlata to foster ongoing connections through a weekly Dvar Torah with a Hanhala member of the yeshiva. This initiative aimed to bring YOEC alumni together, sharing weekly content, shiurim, and points of connection.
The Rebbe emphasized the Yeshiva’s role as “Ohr Elchanon,” a Migdal Ohr for the entire community. This concept echoes the theme of the month of Adar, where we see ליהודים היתה אורה.
The Shabbos served as a catalyst for a broader initiative centered around happiness and light, fittingly timed during the month of Adar. Organizers of this Shabbos, alumni Rabbi Shalom Lubin and Rabbi Hershey Novack came up with the idea of starting a group chat for all YOEC alumni, on which alumni can read a weekly Dvar Torah, and connect with one another.
Since its launch five weeks ago, the chat is growing rapidly, with a constant stream of more participants. The feedback has been amazing!
