Yeka girls is once again pulling off two full summer sessions in two different countries – both at war.
This last week and a half had 25 staff members from around the world, giving their all to Yeka Ukrainian refugees who are now living in Israel. Camp took place in Netanya with the classic Yeka dedication, energy and love, albeit in the holy land.
A Russian speaking oasis with all the benefits of being in Israel for the Ukrainian girls who escaped barely two years ago from a war torn country and are now living through a second war as Israel fights for its life.
Despite the heavy costs of security, difficulty in flying to Israel at this time and the uncertainty of war, Yeka girls first session was a raging success. With 85 campers and various alumni who are now living in Israel with their families, each day was celebrated with fun and smiles. Highlights of the summer was the trip to the kosel where the girls pleaded for Moshiach and peace in all places at all times. This was followed by a trip to the heritage centre and an indoor amusement park. Each camp day was filled with classic Yeka activities. Hilariously entertaining and filled with the warmth of yiddishkiet.
This summers theme is “Ya chast komandi” – “I am part of a team.” During these difficult times theres only one way forward. The Torah is our guide, the Rebbe is our coach, all Jewish people are our team mates and there is just one goal: Moshiach. The girls focused on doing their part for their team, because to win the game, each one has to put their best step forward.
As the first session came to a close, the counselors are raring to continue. The journey to Caroati, Ukraine is ahead of them with another 2 full weeks of camp, where they are due to inspire and energize 90 campers eagerly waiting to greet them.
Wow
This moved me to tears
Are they fundraising? How can I donate?
