The 9th of Iyar is the yahrtzeit of the famed Chassid Reb Nissan Nemenov and his son Reb Moshe Nemenov. Rabbi Yossi Paltiel who is the son-in-law of Reb Moshe and grandson of Reb Nissan, tells stories in his weekly class about his father-in-law among other stories.
In his lengthy introduction to the famous Maamar “Vihadarta Pnei Zakain,” Rabbi Paltiel focuses on its theme and tells many stories about the importance of learning Tanya and Mishna by heart. Rabbi Paltiel gets emotional during the deliverance of his class when talking about the Mesirat Nefesh of the Jews in Russia.

9 Iyar is also also the Yahrzeit of R’ Yisrael Nevel’er (Levin) who was R’ Nissan Nemenov’s m’chutan; R’ Yisrael’s grand daughter – Zelda Levin a”h married R’ Sholom Ber Nemenov a”h – son of R’ Nissan.
