Being a parent of a special needs child can be one of the most overwhelming challenges in a person’s life. Add to that running a household and a fully functioning Chabad center to the mix and you have so much more going on.
Over 350 Shluchim across the world are raising children with special needs. “It has been Yaldei’s mission since 2009 to support, encourage and simply be there for these Shluchim and their families,” says Rabbi Sholly Weiser, Director of operations at Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe. “Our phones are available 24/6 for our Yaldei families.”
With care and sensitivity, Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe tirelessly supports these parents on a day-to-day basis with all kinds of assistance. For many parents, the annual highlight is the Parents Respite Retreat. Yaldei pulls all the stops to make the most beautiful, relaxing, connective, and rejuvenating event for our parents. The event includes incredible food, beautiful accommodations, fresh perspectives, and all-around support for each parent that attends. Included is a date night for each couple to spend quality time together in a calm space.
Every year the feedback from parents is overwhelming. This year is no different after our three most recent retreats in South Florida, California, and Eretz Yisroel, also serving our European delegation. A Shliach who traveled from Europe to attend remarked, “We come to the retreat tired and overwhelmed from our personal and professional lives. Everything at the Yaldei retreat is to the highest standards and we have the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate to return to our Shlichus with energy for the year!”
One Shlucha was so overwhelmed with appreciation, saying, “Yaldei helped with babysitters so my husband and I could get away for two days. They thought of every last detail, we are family.”
