Rabbi Meni Even-Israel was born in Jerusalem. He was ordained by Israel’s Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu and served as a Campus Rabbi for several years in the United States.
He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Steinsaltz Center in Jerusalem, a unique pedagogical accelerator that develops tools and programming to encourage creative engagement with the texts and makes the world of Jewish knowledge accessible to all.
The center publishes the works of his great father, Rabbi Adin Even-Israel (Steinsaltz), one of the greatest Torah scholars of the past century who set a new standard on how Gemara is studied and left an indelible impact on those he taught.
Rabbi Meni is responsible for the completion of the English and French editions of the Steinsaltz Talmud, and most recently the publication of the Steinsaltz Tanakh. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Liza, and their four children.
