In addition to the regular animal and flour offerings brought to the Holy Temple, people could also volunteer to donate wood to be used as fuel on the altar. As the Rebbe explains in a sicha, the “wood offering” gives us unique insight into the true nature of sacrifice. This may also be helpful to those wondering if we should still be making minyanim during the current coronavirus pandemic.
