Jewish Girls Unite will hold the 5th Global Shine Your Light Celebration on Saturday night, March 16, 2019, at 9:30 PM ET.
This annual event will be part of a Shabbat Women’s Retreat in East Greenbush, NY from March 15-17, a weekend of unity, empowerment, and inspiration.
Meals and activities will take place at the new worldwide JGU headquarters with accommodations at hotels in very close walking distance. The event is also the pre-launch for JGU’s 3rd upcoming book: Weaving the Tapestry. Stories of inspiring Jewish women based on the 22 verses of the Aishes Chayil Song.
The following inspired women leaders will give experiential and engaging workshops or performances: Confidence Coach Susan Axelrod, Artists Chana Cotter and Ahuvah Coates, Founder of Cybersem Chavi Goldberg, Global JGU Director Nechama Laber, Singers Tzivia Kay and Chaya Bracha Rubin, Musicians Laura Melnicoff and Mirele Rosenberger, Crocheter and Knitter Gittel Laber and Mentor and speaker Nechama Dena Zwiebel.
A highlight for the weekend will be the Annual JGU Global Celebration on Saturday with Singers Tzivia Kay and Chaya Bracha Rubin, and music by Laura Melnicoff and Mirele Rosenberger. The event includes our annual award ceremony honoring women of valor. Susan Axelrod will receive the JGU Creative Educator’s Award for teaching Leadership Workshops online at Jewish Girls Unite since 2015. She is the JGU Global Strategy advisor for JGU, and she has supported and guided the growth of the JGU global community since 2015. Mirele Rosenberger will receive the JGU Matriarch Award for nurturing the musician in so many of our youth. She has been accompanying our singers at the last 3 JGU Global Celebrations since 2016.
The 2019 JGU Shining Stars will be awarded to Laura Melnicoff, world-class professional musician, Chaya Bracha Rubin, extraordinary educator and singer, Mazal Mardakyeva and Helena Rosenstrauch, alumnae of the Jewish Girls Retreat, who are leaders in their communities today.
