Women Seminar Hosts Scholar

Merkos Women in Melbourne hosted its popular ‘Going Deep’ winter learning seminar last month.

Rabbi Boruch Kaplan from Mayanot in Jerusalem was scholar in residence and gave animated classes in Basi Legani, Chumash, Sichos, Gemara and other general topics to a packed audience. Women came from around Australia to hear Rabbi Kaplan along with other local speakers and workshop presenters.

Merkos Women runs a fulltime seminary for baalei teshuva and already observant young women. Its innovative learning program pairs girls from observant backgrounds with baalei teshuva in a mentor type system.

It started in 2002 as bi-weekly shiurim for university students and has since grown into a successful seminary offering full-time learning to young women from around Australia and around the world.
