N’shei Ubnos Chabad in Crown Heights hosted a packed crowd this past Motzoei Shabbos at a Melava Malka at United Lubavitcher Yeshiva.
It was held to commemorate Rosh Chodesh Kislev, the date in 1977 when the Rebbe returned home after suffering a major heart attack five weeks earlier, on the eve of Shemini Atzeres.
One of the people on the medical team that treated the Rebbe was Dr. Ira Weiss of Chicago and was a guest speaker at the women’s gathering.
While he focused on the medical aspect of the time, other speakers like California Shliach Rabbi Baruch Y. Hecht related how from then, the Rebbe redoubled his efforts on behalf of the Jewish nation and all of humanity, and for the dissemination of Torah and chassidism.
The evening’s chairperson was Mrs. Chanie Wolf. Musical entertainment was provided by Mrs. Suri Levilev.
never received any flyer through the schools nor an invite in the mail and I am a member
dissapointed 🙁
Stop jumping to conclusions. He was not there and spoke on video.
Dr. Weiss was not actually there in person, but spoke in a video clip for the woman in honor of this event. They showed the video in the begining and the end for all to see.

Was the photog not there when Dr. Weiss spoke?
It’s actually odd. The write-up is all about Dr. Weiss and almost nothing about the Rabbi. But the pics are all of the Rabbi.
I second Dr Weiss fan. Where is the mentschlechkeit? How dificult would it have been to post a picture of Dr Weiss. Someone who took care of our Rebbe Begashmius deserves respect.
Please don’t minimize his role and his talk. He merited to serve our Rebbe and Rebbitzen until Gimmel Tammuz and Chof Bais Shvat respectively. His boundless dedication to them is something only the best shluchim can match. Even a picture of him speaking would have shown some respect.
Rabbi Hecht was the heart and soul of Bais Chaya Mushka when my daughter was there. He is an inspiration.
