Amidst the Tishrei crowds teeming on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights on Monday afternoon, a woman caused a disturbance by setting a small fire in the street.
At around 5:15 pm, passersby at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue were startled to see a cardboard box on fire, while a woman was shouting in Hebrew about the Israeli government having “kidnapped her sister.”
“The woman seemed to be mentally unstable,” a witness told COLlive.com. “She was shouting about sister being kidnapped by the government, and that they weren’t denying it.”
A crowd soon gathered to see what the commotion was all about.
Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and put out the fire. The woman was detained by police and sent to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
