Hundreds of Jews of all ages and backgrounds joined Chabad of Baka’s annual Lag B’Omer parade and fun festival at Jerusalem’s First Station. After an entertaining and interactive circus and fire show, the shliach of the English-speaking community of olim, Rabbi Avraham Hendel, led the children in pesukim and extra Tehillim for our hostages, soldiers, and all Am Yisrael.
Chabad of Baka’s boys drumming band was accompanied by professional Shofar-blowing drummers, volunteers in various costumes, and Machon Shoshanat Yerushalayim seminary girls distributing prizes, as the crowd of children and parents marched through the streets of Jerusalem.
Ice pops and an illustrated Sefer Nevi’im was distributed to every child, and exciting workshops followed the parade. Pita-making, a drumming circle, archery, and a petting zoo kept children of various ages happy and entertained.
One Israeli woman came over to the Shlucha, Nechama Dina Hendel, during the workshops. Although the two had never met before, the woman said in Hebrew, “I must share my personal story with you.”
“Last year, I was in desperate need of a blessing,” the woman explained, “and someone told me that it’s a segulah to participate in a Lag B’Omer parade of Chabad, so I did.”
And then, beaming with joy, she proudly showed the Shlucha her baby carriage with a small baby boy inside. “Look,” she said, “Baruch Hashem, I received my blessing. I had to come back this year to express my gratitude for this special miracle.”

Note: You can see the woman who shared her story at 0:59 seconds in, as she pushes her baby carriage in the parade.
Families of the Friendship Circle of South Jerusalem, directed by Chabad of Baka, joined in the celebration. Some came from as far as Beit Shemesh and Nvei Daniel to be a part of the unforgettable experience of unity and Jewish pride on the auspicious date of Rashbi’s yartzeit.
As shluchim the world-over heed the Rebbe’s directive to bring all types of Jews together, may we experience good news and miracles individually and for all Am Yisrael!

It was so much fun to be a part of this! We look forward to the parade with Chabad of Baka every year. It’s the most welcoming, warm and inclusive community in Jerusalem.
