Welcome to Monday Torah, an inspiring weekly class by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Jacobson, one of the most sought after speakers in the Jewish world today and spiritual leader of Congregation Bais Shmuel in Crown Heights.
This week’s class tells the story of how the Rebbe Rayatz comforted the famous Hungarian Rabbi Michael Ber Wiesmandel who could not come to himself after the failure of Jewish leaders to pay off the Nazis and save Hungarian Jewry.
“Who Carries Ultimate Responsibility for the Holocaust?” Asked the Previous Rebbe of the tormented Rabbi Wiesmandel.
Today, 23 Tamuz, is the yartzeit of the great Kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Cordovero. In the Class, Rabbi Jacobson recounts the eulogy given by the Arizal at the funeral of the Ramak, and the Rebbe’s unique explanation of the eulogy. The sicha was said two days after the sudden passing of the famous activist and baal chesed, Reb Nochum Preger, who was deeply connected to the Rebbe. The family of Reb Nochum Preger have dedicated this class in his loving memory.
The family of Reb Nochum Preger requests that anyone who knows of any personal stories or history about him to email the family at [email protected]. R’ Preger was known to be very discreet, so the family is looking for anyone who may have any information.
The weekly video webcast is aired on TheYeshiva.net and COLlive.com each Monday evening at 8:30 PM EST.
You can find the Sicha in Lekutei Sichos, Chelek 24 page 132. Hatzlocho.
Again, you had us messmerized with this powerfull presentaion loaded with information and feeling.Especially at this time when we are all united in mourning the brutal muder of an innocent child. However,I know many people who did not find solace and consolation in the knowledge that ultimately it is the divine will,be it the Serpent or the tree. Many could not forgive themselves for remainig alive while others perished.Tree or no tree.Ultimately Hashems thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways defy our understanding. If any comfort is to be offered by “hanging it on the Tree”,so be it .Neé” chamtonu.
Where can I find the sicha in writing (so I can read it in an noisy place?)
It’s Tombstone,not Tumbstone.
As always, many thanks for this inspiring, deep, penetrating class. You can tell I have been listening a while, by my choice of adjectives…Now I should be blessed to remember as well!!
