1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, here they come.
Jewish people from around the country are heading to Washington, DC, to attend the annual Chanukah reception hosted by President Barack Obama on Thursday.
The White House kitchen was koshered Tuesday night in an operation supervised by Rabbi Levi Shemtov of American Friends of Lubavitch and the Chabad Shliach in the capital.
The team Shemtov led has even more work this year as the list of invitees, which usually reaches 300-400 people, is expected to be even bigger.
In fact, the traditional White House Chanukah celebration will, for the first time, be divided into two receptions, one after the other, the Forward reported. Both will be identical, an organizer said.
Israeli-born Grammy winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari is expected to perform. Just last week she wowed the crowd at the Chabad sponsored lighting ceremony of the National Menorah at the Ellipse just south of the White House.
Attending the party from the Crown Heights Jewish community will be Chanina Sperlin of the local Community Council, Devorah Halberstam of the Jewish Children’s Museum, Levi Halberstam, recently appointed community liaison for Assemblyman Karim Camara, Yaacov Behrman of the new advocacy group, Jewish Future Alliance and Rabbi Getzy Markowitz.
Remember Shalom Mordechai please
The usual suspects…
One of them is a relative of SMR and he works constatntly on his behalf . dont prejudge
Let’s see if they bring up SMR, not just with Obama but with other bigwigs as well.
Don’t forget him
Wow we get to not just see the smiling faces of all the “activists” but also a pre game report, how lucky we are.
Chanina Sperlin, Devorah Halberstam, Yaacov Behrman and Getzy Markowitz, thank you for everything you do to represent the Crown Heights Jewish community!
It’s so nice to see the elder statesmen teaching the younger ones the ropes.
