Montreal and its suburbs are blessed with close to 70 Chabad Shluchim couples operating some 40 Chabad centers serving the spiritual, educational and humanitarian needs of the Jewish community.
And they do so with achdus.
“We live in peace, although there are so many working in close proximity to each other,” said Rabbi Berel Mochkin, Executive Director of Lubavitch Youth Organization (Tzach) of Montreal.
Speaking to participants at the regional Kinus Hashluchim of Quebec, Rabbi Mochkin said this is accomplished by “understanding that the base of Shlichus is mesirus nefesh” and that “not everything is with a ‘capital I’.”
The 1 day annual conference was organized by Tzach and hosted by Rabbi Shalom Chriqui at his Escale Chabad du Nord resort and conference center in the town of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts.
Speeches and sessions given by Shluchim and professionals covered various areas of day to day life of Shlichus.
But it was the guest speaker, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, who thought there was another reason for the apparent unity.
“The Rebbe has showed special care for Montreal,” he said, mentioning the legendary 9 Shluchim sent by the Frierdiker Rebbe (his father Rabbi Tzvi Yosef Kotlarsky OBM was one of them).
“The work and dedication they have put into this city can be seen today in many aspects, including the wide-range of fruitful services the Shluchim offer here,” he said.
Among the programs offered by Chabad houses in Montreal are a drug rehabilitation home, a large teen network and presence on college campuses.
“To have so many Shluchim in a single city and, bli ayin hara, to be living and operating together is a blessing,” added Rabbi Kotlarsky.

I agree with # 15, just like it takes 2 to have a machlokos, it takes 2 for achdus, and all due to the fact that the shluchim to montreal are not there for the weather money or fame like other areas in the states
they are there for shlichus and thats why they get along
I believe the achdus is due to the fact that the majority of the shluchim are real chasidshe guys so they have the bitul that makes them all work together

Yes, the nine original shluchim had much to do with it but modern day Chabad House shlichus in Montreal was coordinated by Berel Mockin for years. HE is hands on in day-to-day shlichus operations of every single quebec chabad house. He is a true chossid and a true shliach.

He does great work but lets not overuse the word “head shliach” most head shluchim got the title because they were the first in that area and was the one to bring the rebbes shlichus to that area. and build up the community

Rabbi B. Motchkin is one of the most genuine Chasidim around who remains a Chasidisher Mesiras Nefesh Jew who lives with the Rebbe’s dream of Moshiach all the while being head shliach to 70 shluchim. People should watch and learn.
