Why do you need to buy fish in a non kosher store when we are lucky enough to have Raskins?

There is considerable difference between salmon and other fish, as the above OU article points out. I do not think that there is an issue of buying sides of salmon (raw, of course) from Costco, or the like.

It is clearly salmon, based on its color and texture. In regards to other knives being used to cut the fish, I would suspect that in today’s world or numerous allergies, that many places would be careful not to mix knives. Of course, everyone should check with their rav.

If you’re in the boondocks and have a local fishmonger ask him what knife he likes and take a knife with you when you shop. (?)

There are no treife fish with red flesh

So red fish such as salmon does NOT require scales.
