“Historic Treasures,” is presented by Rabbi Sholom Ber Schapiro, Director of the Nissan Mindel Publications (NMP), exclusively for COLlive.com.
Each program shares ‘treasures’ from the archives of Rabbi Schapiro’s father in law, Rabbi Dr. Nissan Mindel OBM, a prolific writer who served as a personal secretary of the 6th and 7th Chabad Rebbes.
The program uncovers fascinating stories, rare artifacts and precious documents from the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
This week, in honor of the 25th Gimmel Tammuz:
1. Rabbi Nissan Mindel’s visit to the Rebbe a few months after the first Chof Zayin Adar 5752. Learn about this moving encounter between a chosid/friend and his Rebbe.
2. The Rebbe’s definition of a “last will and testament” as expressed in a handwritten letter to a close supporter of the Frierdiker Rebbe shortly after Yud Shvat 1951. In it, the Rebbe clearly explains what a true will (tzava’a) is.
3. The 2 wills of the Rebbe: The legal will that deals with the estate, material possessions of the Rebbe, signed by him in February 1988. And the Jewish which the Rebbe personally dictated (and later reviewed) in the presence of his two trusted secretaries and his Rov. This the Rebbe did twice – both in Sivan,1988 and Elul, 1988. In this document, the Rebbe expresses his wishes for Chabad and its future. Of an everlasting nature.
Although this video was filmed to be aired on Motzei Shabbos, we present it here tonight as a preparation for Gimmel Tammuz:
