What is “Yashan” Bread?

Question: I've noticed that next to the kosher certification on certain baked goods, it says "Yashan." What does this mean? Full Story

Nice piece.

I like that COL admits to our humanness (very un-Lubavitch like) that perhaps we don’t know it all.

what about in Eretz Yisroel?

to #8, if there isn’t an issue in chutz la’aretz, is there any issue of eating yashan in eretz yisroel?

Chasidim in general aren't Machmir on this

The hebrew year was 3828, making it 1,943 years ago, and would be 68. But the english calendar dates it at the year 70, possibly their years are off.

Alter Rebbe says...

Why is there no mention of the Alter Rebbes psak on this subject? You would think that would clear up any discussion and move on to something new.

Chabad isn’t “meticulous” because it is a non issue in chutz l’eretz by the Alter Rebbe’s psak.

here is a nice detailed article about yoshon

I don’t understand how that’s a sfek sfeika (double doubt) don’t a) & b) both mean that the wheat took root before Pesach? Doesn’t a double sofek have to be sequential?

35 years ago, almost no-one was careful about Chodosh. Only recently did this Chumra get such a big following.
