Following last year’s successful camp, West Coast Tzeirei HaShluchim / Shluchos Camp greatly expanded and enhanced its program for the benefit of Shluchim’s children.
The focus of the camp is on chayus, Shlichus and exciting activities and trips all in a caring, chassidishe atmosphere. The directors, Rabbi and Mrs. Zalmy and Shterna Kudan and Rabbi and Mrs. Mendel and Rochel Loschak, have extensive experience with youth and camps and will take exceptional care of the Shluchim’s children.
This year’s camp will be held in Southern California at the magnificent 113-acre Camp Max Strauss (Jewish Big Brothers and Sisters) located in the majestic Verdugo Mountains in Glendale, California. The warm winter climate of Los Angeles provides an excellent location for the winter camp. In addition, the camp is equipped with air-conditioned and heated cabins, boasts activities such as ropes courses, archery, rock climbing, swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and unparalleled wilderness adventures and hiking trails. It is located a mere 10 miles from Burbank, Airport, 15 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and 30 miles from Los Angeles International Airport.
The head counselor for the boy’s camp Mendel Undsdorfer from London and for the girl’s camp Chana Block from S. Antonio, Texas were chosen for their camping experience, character and dedication to children who are on Shlichus.
The executive committee of the camp, overseeing administrative needs and ensuring funds for the camp are California Shluchim Rabbis Simcha Backman, Shlomo Bistritsky and Yisroel Levine. This camp is made possible by generous funding from various individuals and a grant from MyShliach of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch Suite 302 under the direction of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky. If you are in a position to assist financially or if you have any funding ideas please contact Rabbi Simcha Backman at: 818-618-4335 / [email protected]
In addition to the regular Winter Camp, there will also be a special Shabbaton program for Shluchim’s children in the Los Angeles area who go to Cheder Menachem and Bais Chaya Mushka / Bais Rebbe. This will provide the Tzeirei HaShluchim / Shluchos who go to regular Chabad Mosdos an opportunity to be with young Shluchim and Shluchos from across the Western States and will also give them the unique warmth and proud feeling of being an integral part of the Rebbe’s Army.
Shluchim’s children from across the Western United States are coming to the camp and it has almost reached full capacity. Registration for the camp is closing on Monday, December 8 and there are only a few spaces left.
