Wouldnt a boy, even under three, have worn a yarmulke when going by the Rebbe?
Think the rebbe is not looking at the child? Its a beautiful picture but if you look closely the child is closer to the camera than the Rebbe is and if you look at the rebbe’s eyes they are not turned towards the child(and camera) they are looking straight ahead and at something thats past the child. And it looks like a girl to me. Unless pre upsherin boys back then wore knee socks.
