A crowd of close to 1,000 gathered at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse in Long Island for an uplifting and inspiring evening in preparation for Gimmel Tammuz.
The unforgettable evening of powerful words and soul stirring music was held in preparation for the auspicious day of Gimmel Tammuz, the 29th Yartzeit of the Rebbe, and featured renowned lecturer Rabbi YY Jacobson and singer Shulem Lemmer.
The event was organized by 55 Shluchim at the 40 Chabad Houses on Long Island, who gathered with their friends and supporters for this evening of meaning. The event was one of thousands of Hakhel events this year uniting more than 309,276 Jews in 611 cities across the globe.
The MC for the evening was Shlucha Baila Goodman. Singer Shulem Lemmer mesmerized the crowd with his soulful performance of Niggunim.
Rabbi YY Jacobson enthralled participants with his talk on the Rebbe’s vision and marching orders for the world to this day.
Rabbi YY shared his discussion with Rabbi Gansburg, the Rebbe’s housekeeper for more than 40 years, on how the Rebbe would address the Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, and the lessons learned from it.
Rabbi YY related lessons from the Rebbe, highlighting the ability we all have of turning tragedy into triumphs; and that with Ahavas Yisroel and empathy the Rebbe shows how we can make space for another person, to allow them to grow with their own initiative.
With beautiful insight and first-person stories, he demonstrated how the Rebbe helped us always use each day to advance forward, step by step.
Participants were uplifted and inspired by the remarkable evening.
“Just wanted to share with you the wonderful experience we had last night. The program was superb, the MC Baila Goodman, the singer Shulem Lemmer, and Rabbi YY Jacobson! This Hakhel gathering at Hofstra University, took me back to ancient Jerusalem, to us at Har Sinai, and the special nigun of the soul that is looking to be close to HaShem. Yasher Koach,” one participant said.
