The holiday of Pesach is being celebrated full scale in Casablanca, Morocco, with many joining Chabad’s programs, Avraham Ohayon told COLlive.com.

The French resident, who was ‘A Jewish Star’ finalist, returned with his wife to his native Morocco to celebrate Pesach with his grandparents and family.

He davened at the shul of the Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch institutions which has recently undergone renovations.

He said that Rabbi Shalom Edelman, who was sent as a Shliach by the Rebbe some 60 years ago, had his hands full even during Chol Hamoed.

The senior Shliach is preparing for a full house on Acharon Shel Pesach for Chabad’s traditional Moshiach’s Seuda to be held at the shul’s indoor tent hall.

While Avi said he was planning to be in New York again during the summer months for a few wedding gigs, he took joy in reconnecting with his hometown.

“Rabbi Edelman has a library full of kodesh books, a new Beth Haknesset and a hall for weddings and simches,” he told us.

He also met an Arabic woman who asked him to photograph her as she cleans the building – which houses an active Kolel.

“She opens and closes the institute every day, and she cleans it too, and she does it with pleasure because she loves the Jewish people,” Ohayon said.
