This week Friendship Circle is competing for $250,000 in the Vivint Gives Back Project, a Facebook based vote-a-thon. In this qualifying round the top 20 charities from 5 regions are selected to enter the final round.
After getting off to a good lead, The Friendship Circle of Suffolk County in Long Island slipped 1000 votes behind the position they need to be, so that they can continue to the next round and be in a solid position to win.
“I don’t believe that calling off the campaign for 48 hours of Yom Tov can do us any bad,” said Rabbi Zalman Teldon, Director of the Friendship Circle.
“Only good can come out of it. With all the hard work of our volunteers, I know we can still pull it off.”
But he continued, “Considering that Shabbos is tonight and the voting ends a few hours after havdalah this Motzoei Shabbos, every vote is crucial!”
