The following video was filmed at the home of Rabbi Chaim and Bashie Dalfin in his home in Marin County, California when the legendary mashpia Reb Mendel Futerfas came for a visit in 1989.
Mrs. Dalfin was a granddaughter of Mrs. Brocha Serebryanski of Melbourne, sister of Reb Mendel. “He couldn’t travel to Australia to see her so he came to his niece’s home to substitute his sister,” Rabbi Dalfin said.
Reb mendel spent hours talking with Rabbi Dalfin about Shlichus and met with Rabbi Menachem Shmuel Dovid Raichik, a Shliach of the Lubavitcher Rebbes who lived in Los Angeles.
“The video should be studied not just seen,” said Rabbi Dalfin, an author and lecturer, who released it as part of his “Who’s Who In Lubavitch” series. “It’s an in-depth inside view of a true chossid of yesteryear.”
The DVD is available at jewishinfo.org or [email protected]. Other videos includes the chassidim, Rabbis Raichik, Raskin, Springer, Tennebaum, Shimshon Stock, Axelrod, Pewzner, Sternberg and Devorkin. Phone: 347-512-1429.
Just for the record, rabbi dalfin was a shaliach in Marin county in those years. Not in Berkeley.

keep it up !!
gosh, being an alumni of UC Berkeley years ago (Drizen and Citron days and before) who would ever have thought Mendel Futerfas and Raichek would grace the streets of that crazy place and turn the pavement into gold!
Thank you Rabbi Dalfin for putting out this incredible video. It’s especially helpful to us, the younger generation who never saw R’ Mendel, even if we heard a lot. Please continue putting out these videos.
Thank you for the video of Reb Mendel Futerfas. Looking forward to the sequel.
