Rabbi Mendy Shemtov of Beit Jabad del Uruguay took part in a filming project to examine the level of tolerance towards Jewish people on the steets of Montevideo.
A camera filmed the Chabad Shliach walking for 10 hours around the city. It was based on a similar video of a Jewish journalist walking the streets of Paris and being met with anti-Semitic slurs.
But on Rabbi Shemtov’s journey along different points of the capital, the video shows him being met with respect and even admiration by non- Jews.
“The Uruguayans may be prejudiced, but not racist,” the rabbi told the El Observador newspaper. “If they see someone different, they look. There are many people coming over to ask me, but always with great respect.”
The video ends with the message that “Uruguay is a secular country, where different cultures and religions peacefully coexist.”

This is amazing, and i seen similar interactions in some other south american countries, the rest of fascist europe could learn a thing or too.

The other video was of a non-Jewish guy walking with a noticeable star of David, to see reactions. It was nice to see the welcoming presence this shliach has in his community.

So beautiful to see! Many people walk for different causes.
Moshiach’s times when we walk proudly as Jews!
Great idea for all cities to take on a jewish(meaningful) walk!
Some just walk for exercise.
The more we educate people the better they understand our presence in this world. So much good can be done on a walk.
This is good news.
