Got Chassidus?
Ever wanted to understand the concepts explained in Chassidus clearly but don’t have much time?
Then this series is for you.
Rabbi Efraim Zaltzman, director of Chabad of Kingsborough in Brooklyn, NY, is filling that need with the launch of a series of classes called “Kabbalah and Chassidus explained.”
“Chassidus are teachings often in the form of commentary on the Torah and based on Kabbalah, and deals with a range of spiritual concepts such as G-d, the soul, and the Torah, dealing with esoteric matters but often making them understandable, applicable and finding practical expressions,” Rabbi Zaltzman told COLlive.com.
Rabbi Zaltzman has set out to explain Chassidic concepts in clear and simple English, bringing clear sources for authenticity and so the listener can look it up themselves.
All Hebrew phrases used in the classes, such as ‘pshitus,’ ‘ein aroich’ etc. are not only translated, but also explained in clear English.
“The classes are geared for the advanced or beginner, and classes are approximately 30 minutes so that even busy people can find the time to learn,” he says.
The classes are for everyone, but beginners should start from class 1 and listen to the classes in order, Rabbi Zaltzman recommends.
Classes already featured on the website include introductions, and the concepts of Atzmus, Or ein sof, Tzimtzum and Atzilus. Also included are classes on avoidas hatfilah.
Plans for future classes include explaining of the 10 sefiros, the four worlds and Dinah B’tachtonim etc. and related concepts.
The classes are in no way intended to be an audio Chassidus encyclopedia, but rather, taking major concepts of Chassidus and explaining them in order, so an average person can understand them well.
