With a demand for exceptional and trained Mechanchim, United Lubavitch Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway has launched their very own paid teachers’ training program spearheaded by veteran Mechanech Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum.
There are many individuals who have aspirations for teaching and general education, yet they are uncertain of their ability when in the classroom. That is why ULYOP has decided to give the opportunity to train in new staff in a special program under the guidance and with firsthand experience in a live classroom.
The program will allow teachers to work in the yeshiva while being trained, thereby earning an income. Additionally, the yeshiva will award successful graduates of the program a Teacher’s Certificate along with a letter of recommendation. Graduates will also be eligible for employment at ULYOP the following year.
Only graduates who show mastery will be eligible to graduate.
The course instructors will be given by experienced educators, Rabbi Yaacov Sebbag, principal at ULYOP, Rabbi Shmuli Turk, assistant principal at ULYOP, and Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum, director of yeshiva Achei Temimim of Pittsburg.
Rabbi Rosenblum has over 28 years of experience in the field of Jewish education.
In 1992, Rabbi Rosenblum joined the staff at Yeshiva Achei Timmim in Pittsburgh, PA. Two years later, he became Principal of the Boys Division. While serving as principal, the Yeshiva was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.
Rabbi Rosenblum is an innovative educator and administrator. In 1994, he founded the International Sefer HaMitzvos Competition and authored the Sefer HaMitsvos booklets used by 40 schools as part of their curriculum. He also worked with leading educators and scholars on the ground-breaking Gemara Berura teaching methodology. As part of this effort, Rabbi Rosenblum was responsible for developing the workbook on hascholas gemora. This unique workbook helped teachers fulfill the words of Shlomo Hamelech to “teach a child according to his way” using advanced techniques such as Differentiated Instruction (DI) and Understanding by Design (UBD).
The course will cover many important aspects of teaching including planning, classroom environment, master instructions and more.
