A new fleishig restaurant has opened in Crown Heights, one of a string of new eateries that have sprung up in the area in the past few months. Butcher Grill House, owned and managed by partners Ben Davidov and Avi Berko, opened its doors on Troy Avenue this past Sunday and is already receiving rave reviews from its customers.
One of the standout features of Butcher Grill House is its sprawling layout. With up to 70 seats available, it can easily seat a large family dinner while maintaining a cozy atmosphere for those looking for a more intimate setting. A spacious room located in the back of the restaurant is also available to rent, ideal for private events like l’chaims or small bar mitzvahs.
Davidov also owns Mozzarella, a popular dairy restaurant in Crown Heights, and he plans to replicate its success in this new venture. “Delicious food, great ambiance, and excellent service at an affordable price; that is our motto,” says Ben. He says Butcher Grill House is intended to be something in between a steakhouse and a take-out place where patrons can enjoy a classy dinner at a more affordable cost.
A quick look at the menu shows a wide variety of dishes, including traditional favorites like steak and burgers, as well as more exotic options like kebabs. Davidov is proud of the fact that all of his meat is sourced in the United States, ensuring that every dish is fresh and of the highest quality.
Preparations for the restaurant were well underway over three years ago, but when Covid hit at the beginning of 2020, those plans were put on hold. “We have been dreaming about this for a long time and it’s great to see it all coming together,” said Berko.
The restaurant accepts walk-ins but reservations are encouraged to ensure availability. It is open Sunday-Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. They will soon be offering catering options and interested customers are encouraged to reach out in the coming weeks for details and pricing.

Lot’s of hatzlocho in the business. That’s the message I give to the owners. The message I give to the customers is: Always remember that when ever you go into these fancy restaurants you shouldn’t care what the food is or what it tastes like. Your only intention should be to eat whatever they serve you just to get the hunger out so afterwards you can have the energy to sit and learn torah and/or do mitzvos. That’s why I eat out all the time searching for expensive restaurants! If so you may ask why not just eat a simple bagel… Read more »
We went to try it out and it’s beyond incredible! The food is delicious, portions are normal sized and the atmosphere is so comfortable and warm. The best is that the meat is CHK and fresh!
I’m assuming it’s all lubavitch shchita
Yeah, so important!!!
How else would you be able to eat there?
prices are a bit steep maybe they will offer a pre-set early bird special
You come in…predominantly African American, Caribbean neighborhoods, where gentrification is rising slowly are they allowed to eat at these establishments without discrimination or prejudice?
Crown Heights has been a jewish neighborhood since at least the 1950’s.
I imagine anyone who walks in to eat would be welcome, regardless of color, gender, religion…. it’s a restaurant, to make money, not a shul.
It’s not unusual to see non-Jews eating at kosher places.
You’ll be welcomed.

Crown Heights had a Jewish community long before African and Caribbean Americans moved in.
