The Feuerstein Method, developed by Israeli developmental cognitive psychologist Dr. Reuven Feuerstein, emphasizes “Learning How to Learn” through Mediated Learning Experiences. This method has been praised and implemented in over 80 countries around the world. It focuses on unlocking a child’s potential and teaching them essential cognitive skills that can be applied across various aspects of life. Dr. Feuerstein’s work was strongly supported by the Rebbe, who encouraged him to further develop his method and even sent children to him for treatment.
Many parents and educators often believe that real learning only begins when children start pre-kindergarten or first grade, focusing primarily on free play with little guidance from adults during the preschool years. However, learning begins as soon as a child is born, and even before that. The early formative experiences are crucial in shaping a child’s learning patterns and cognitive development. It is essential for parents and teachers to understand the importance of these early years and how to effectively use play and both formal and informal instruction to create the right neural pathways to ensure success. These pathways serve as foundational building blocks for further learning. The question arises: do parents and teachers have the necessary tools to nurture these young minds effectively? This is precisely what the Feuerstein Course aims to address, equipping adults with the strategies and knowledge to foster optimal cognitive and mental development in children.
Participants in the FIE Basic 1 course will gain valuable insights into Dr. Feuerstein’s applied systems of structural cognitive modifiability. These systems have been proven to enhance learning potential and developmental outcomes in children. Whether you’re a parent looking to support your child’s education, a teacher aiming to improve classroom interactions, or a therapist seeking new techniques, this course offers practical and transformative tools.
