Rabbi Aryeh Sufrin, Head Shliach of Chabad of North East London & Essex (Ilford) UK, met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Mr. David Cameron at a recent charity function.
Introduced to the Prime Minister, Rabbi Sufrin engaged him in a discussion about the British government’s recently launched national project entitled “The Big Society.”
Sufrin, founder and Executive Director of Drugsline, a non-denominational drugs and crisis support service, explained how his organization can play a leading role, through its unique prevention programs, by giving young people the opportunity and skills to take responsibility for their actions.
The Prime Minister was most interested in hearing of the work of Drugsline and its achievements over a period of some 21 years.
Further meetings have since taken place with Members of Parliament.
Drugsline was given formal recognition in 2010 by Her Majesty, The Queen of England Elizabeth II for his “services to the wider community.”
