A welcome center was built this year in Tzfas to serve the many people visiting the gravesite of Rabbi Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi OBM, the foremost kabbalist known as the holy Arizal (1534-1572).
A special large tent was erected near the historic cemetery to serve the many visitors there this week by Rabbi Chaim Kaplan, Director of Agudat Kiryat Chabad – Chabad of Safed.
Over the 24 hours of the yartzeit on Tuesday, some 5,000 people visited the tent and were provided an air conditioned space where they can pray, recite Tehillim and study together.
With a special section for women as well, Chabad provided warm meals round the clock and cold and warm drink. Subsidized books on Chassidus were made available to visitors.
Outside the tent, a video screen showed videos of the Rebbe produced by JEM offering Torah insights and unique comments from the Rebbe during personal encounters.
Rabbi Kaplan noted that this year, the year of Hakhel unity, marks 40 years since the Rebbe instructed to visit and gather Jews at the Arizal’s kever on the day of the yartzeit.
The accommodations were organized in cooperation with the religious council of Tzfas and in merit of Chaim Tzvi ben Shulamis.
