Tycoon Rami Levy, who has holdings in the food, communications and tourism industries in Israel, will be donating a free pair of Tefillin for Jews in Europe who can’t afford it.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Brussels-based Rabbinical Center of Europe which has been a recipient of Levy’s generosity in the past.
The center said that Levy is spending over a million shekel (approximately $290,000) to fund the ambitious project that will also include a tallis.
They said that hundreds of pairs of Tefillin will be giving, with a cap of 2 pairs per community across Europe.
The donation was made in memory of Rabbi Benny Wolff OBM, the Chabad Shliach in Hanover, Germany, who recently passed away at the age of 43.
Rabbi Aryeh Goldberg, director of the rabbinical center, said that recipients of the Tefillin will have to commit to using them on a daily basis.
Such an important Mitzvah!
May he be blessed beyond any desire only in goodness
Yechi HaMelech!
That’s how I got a pair of tefillin 14 years ago
From Lev Yehuda in Baltimore the deal was go to minyan for six months and the pair is free
Since then I replaced the battim with 4×4 and the retzuos. I later donated to Lev Yehuda an amount equivalent to the cost of a pair of tefillin
Lev Yehuda was only around got a short time as it was a pet project. Thank you rachamim Levi. Shalom
I bet the Shluchim in Europe have plenty of customers for this project. Wonderful!
