When the popular Australian TV Program The Living Room wanted to support those who support the community during the challenging time of COVID19, they chose to renovate the home of Sydney Shluchim Rabbi Dovid and Laya Slavin.
The program finds people who deserve to be recognized and they do so by renovating their homes for them. While the home is being redone, the family is put up in a hotel, and they come back to “the big surprise.”
The theme of the program was seeing how many guests the Slavins invite for Shabbos, and to make it more pleasant for them to host so many people by brightening up the decor of the home and the front garden.
“We were so honored to have been chosen to do the show and to have the opportunity to make a Kiddush Hashem,” Rabbi Dovid Slavin told COLlive.
Laya Slavin said she was “very moved” by the gesture. “We live in a real Malchus Shel Chesed’ that appreciates the beauty of a Jewish Home,” she said.
