Joey Newcomb writes:
I was privileged not too long ago to go on a trip to Europe to visit the places of our past. One of the toughest days was the day that we visited the Nazi death camps and we were all down and broken as we thought about what took place at such a place of destruction.
Needless to say, it was an emotional day. That night we went to Krakow, Poland. As we were davening Maariv in the Rama’s shul, I started to experience a different feeling. I thought to myself, after all that we have been through we’re still here, if not stronger. I started to think about the words “Mi K’amcha Yisroel” until this song came down.
The sound of this tune has a very happy and upbeat vibe and as we were considering a collaboration on the album, there was no better choice than Benny Friedman who’s a chossid and a heiligeh Yid. And he graciously lent us his beautiful voice.
