For over 20 years you have heard and read about the world-famous Chabad-organized “Largest Passover Seder” in Kathmandu, Nepal.
2,000 bottles of wine, 2,000 pounds of matzah, and 3,000 units of gefilte fish are just part of what it takes to fill the menu.
In addition to the many Israeli backpackers who fill the large hotel hall, foreigners from the U.S. and Europe make their way to this legendary Jewish event.
Frenchmen Patrick Lebhat and Yochanan Levy, both in their 30s, attended the Seder in 2008 and said they were deeply inspired.
Lebhat, a software engineer, said he was looking for an exotic place to celebrate Passover when he stumbled on an article in a French newspaper describing the Nepal Seders.
This year Chabad of Nepal has partnered with Shai Bar-Ilan Geographical Tours – with 30 years of Kosher touring experience – to bring this Far East Pesach experience to everyone.
With 5 star amenities, touring and classes, as well as a top chef, “this Pesach promises to be an experience of a life time,” says Rabbi Chezky Lifshitz, Director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Nepal.
Rabbi Lifshitz said he recommends that Shluchim offer this experience to their Chabad House members. “Your Balle Batim will talk about it for many years to come.”
Located in the Himalaya mountains, Nepal is a landlocked country in South Central Asia and is the world‘s youngest republic.
It is a country of diverse culture and religions reflecting different ethnic origins of its peoples, with a rich and exciting geography.
The mountainous north contains eight of the world‘s ten highest mountains, including the highest, Mount Everest.
