Lag BaOmer was celebrated in the village of Manali, located in the Indian Himalayas, with a bonfire and barbeque for Israeli tourists.
Dozens of backpackers joined around the fire, singing traditional Jewish songs, and hearing about the holiday and the legacy of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
The event was organized by bochurim Zviki Fleishman and Mani Holtzman, with the assistance of Rabbi Gechtman of Mumbai, Rabbi Kantor and Rabbi Wilhelm of Thailand and funding by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky.
