Yeshivas Lubavitch of Toronto held their annual Kinus Torah on Isru Chag Shavuos, in accordance with the oft-repeated directives of the Rebbe.
Isru Chag in the afternoon, all of the talmidei haYeshiva, both of the zal and the mesivta, gathered together for close to 2 hours of divrei Torah in both nigleh and chassidus.
Hatomim Aharon Bergman of Pittsburgh, a student in the zal, opened the Kinus with a dvar malchus, taken from a sicha of Shavuos 5752.
He was followed by the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Wagner, who shared a pilpul about the connection between sefirah and Shavuous.
HaTomim Yossi Lipsker of Sherman Oaks CA, a talmid in the mesivta, spoke next, with a skillfully delivered analysis of the difference between Chassidus and chakirah.
Afterwards HaTomim Mendel Hertz of Chicago, a bochur in the zal, gave a pilpul about the nature of a kohein accepting matanos on behalf of his wife.
He was followed by HaTomim Ephraim Lerner, who came to the zal in Yeshivas Lubavitch of Toronto all the way from Australia, who discussed the maamar “Ashrei Tivchar”.
The final speaker was Mendel Gurary of Montreal, a talmid in the mesivta, who spoke about the status of the marriage of a couple when they arise for techiyas hameisim.
The Kinus, which was organized by haShliach haTomim Dubie Lisker, was expertly and tastefully emceed by hashliach haTomim Zushe Rivkin.
The bochurim spent an inspiring 2 hours fulfilling the Rebbe’s horo’ah, and left encouraged to increase their own efforts in their learning.

You wrote that after studying in Toronto, “I can no longer enjoy Olom Hazah.”
I was also in Toronto, but I think you got message a bit wrong. In Toronto I was taught to enjoy inynei ruchniyus. Once you taste ruchniyus you realize that gashmiyus is silly.
Thank you Rabbi Wagner and keep on going!

I went to this Yeshiva and spent a year there. Since then, I can no longer enjoy Olom Hazah. When friends shlep me to do something I shouldn’t be doing – I get stomach aches and visions of Rabbi Wagner farbrenging. While I was in Toronto, i thought it was bad. Now that I am a bit older and hopefully somewhat wiser, i realize that the worst year of my life was really the best year my neshoma ever had. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it ws the age of wisdom, it was… Read more »
