Despite the great challenges over the past few months due to Covid 19, the bochurim in the Torah & Trade Program have successfully received their Semicha.
Huge credit goes to the bochurim, for their effort and perseverance, and for not giving up in these unusual circumstances.
The bochurim acknowledge that Rabbi Zalman Torenheim‘s incredible dedication and devotion, together with his innovative visual charts in English, played a large part in helping them succeed. He taught two of the same Semicha classes daily via Zoom (one at 5:30am his time!) in order to accommodate the bochurim’s different schedules.
Rabbi Chaim Farro, a much beloved and veteran Shliach, has been acutely aware of the tremendous need for an English speaking Torah & Trade program of this type to be available for more ages. He has committed himself to expand and further develop the program, working together with Rabbi Dovid Barber.
The program will be Iy”H starting this Cheshvan 5781, and will be catering to bochurim ages 16-18, (Shiur Beis-Gimmel Mesivta / Shiur Alef Zal) who are interested in learning and want to be in a warm, chassidishe environment, with a lighter daily schedule.
The program consists of an interactive learning system of Kodesh, together with learning a choice of trade.
Safrus and battim making may also be an option, based on availability and demand.
Iy”H in addition to the daily schedule, there will be extracurricular activities plus regular trips and Shabbatons.
In addition to the above, the Smicha program will continue – with a full day learning schedule, for Bochurim around age 21. They will also have an opportunity to serve as a dugma chaya for the younger ages.
