A new Torah was completed in honor of R’ Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, the Rebbe‘s father, on his Yartzeit Chof Av at his gravesite.
The Torah was sponsored by Mr. Mordy Hecht, a resident of Crown Heights and a local activist.
The final letters of the Torah were written at R’ Levi Yitzchok’s holy gravesite on Wednesday in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in a humble ceremony.
Last week, The Torah had letters inscribed at the Hecht home in Crown Heights.
The Rebbe’s secretary, Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky of Machne Israel and Rabbi Moshe Pinson, Founder of Bais Shmuel Chabad were on hand for the writing.
On Thursday, during a stopover in Germany on the way back from Kazakhstan, the Torah was read for the first time at a Shul in Berlin.
