Following nothing short of a miraculous rescue from war-torn, Nazi-occupied Europe, and after an almost 2-week arduous voyage by ship, the Frierdiker Rebbe arrived at the New York harbor on Tes (9) Adar II, 1940. The landscape of American Jewry was forever changed with the famous words the Frierdiker Rebbe emphatically declared, “Amerikeh iz nisht andersh–America is not different.”
We are here today because the Frierdiker Rebbe and the Rebbe utilized every possible–and impossible!–resource to ensure that every Jew, wherever he or she may find themselves, will have unlimited access to Torah and Yiddishkeit, in their fullest measure.
Through the network of the most selfless, dedicated army, the Shluchim and Shluchos around the world, Torah is freely available to every single Jew.
Rashi Minkowicz, a’h, whose 9th yahrtzeit we commemorate this Friday, Yud (10) Adar, merited to be one of the Shluchos who made it her life’s mission to touch Jews from every walk of life through her unique Torah classes, branding them: TORAH & TEA.
She loved, lived, and breathed Torah & Tea by hosting a weekly Torah class that was as warm and welcoming as the copious cups of tea she served up alongside her Torah wisdom, making the world and the people within it happier and holier in perpetuity.
Rashi’s legacy lives on in cities, states, countries, and continents across the world where Jewish women meet for Torah & Tea and quench their thirst with the warmth of Torah.
The Rosh Chodesh Society–women’s study division of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI)–invites every Shlucha of the Rebbe to honor the memory of ראשא בת הרה״ת חיים מאיר הלוי ע״ה by joining with sister Shluchos everywhere in teaching a special Torah & Tea series created l’iluy nishmasa for this Shnas Hakhel. This is one program you do not want to miss.

There are two kinds of Torah: one studied for personal happiness and fulfillment, and one whose purpose is sharing it with others. Rashi personified and exemplified this by sharing Torah with her family, her community, and the world.
The last letter of the Torah is a lamed in the word Yisrael; the first is beis in Bereshit. Together, the letters spell the word lev—heart. Rashi, the collective heart of the Jewish people is beating fiercely and lovingly in your honor.
This Rosh Chodesh Society Torah & Tea program is excellent. It makes it so easy to give classes to the women in my community. This is the first time I am excited to teach. Thank you so much for creating such amazing resources for us Shluches.
I am a younger shlucha and did not have the zchus of meeting Rashi Minkowicz, OBM but Im honoured to be part of this. May her family be reunited with ehr immediately.
