Daylight savings time starts tonight. Backyard barbecues get a little easier this weekend with the return of daylight saving time and its extra hour of sunlight in the evening.
Set clocks ahead an hour before going to bed Saturday night, even though the change doesn’t occur officially until 2 a.m. Sunday, local time. And safety experts say this also is a good time to put new batteries in smoke detectors and other warning devices.
Some parts of the country don’t observe daylight saving time. Those include Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.
Some Halachic authorities maintain that this is also a good time to check one’s Mezuzos (religious texts from Deuteronomy inscribed on parchment and rolled up in a case that is attached to the doorframe of many Jewish households in accordance with Jewish law).
1 less hour of sleep
To be precise, DST does not start at 2AM. There is in fact no 2AM this night. 1:59:59 AM is followed by 3:00:00 AM.
Question: why is it called “changing” the clock? We don’t actually change the clock, we keep using the same clock, we just move the hands an hour ahead or an hour back.
another hour behind!!!!!!!!!!!!! that means america is now FOURTEEN hours behind us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
