On April 29th, in the midst of the Baltimore riots, police decided to ban fans from entering the stadium. For the first time in history, a major league baseball game was played but to 47,000 empty seats.
Did you ever think about what effect the crowd has on a player’s performance? Does it make a difference to the players on the field if they hear the spectators rooting for them? Does it make things more exciting?
This Sunday, May 10, at the Jewish Childrens Musuem from 3:00-5:00pm, the Art of Friendship Gallery will be open, displaying 99 pieces of Art, created by children with special needs; members of the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn.
Bring along your family and friends and make this a memorable occasion for all our artists. Let our artists know that we are rooting for them, that we adore and love the work that they have produced. Let them feel like the stars they really are, with people “oohing and aahing” over each and every one of their masterpieces.
Whether you are a major league baseball player, a mother of a child with down syndrome, or a 25 year old with autism, the cheering, rooting and support is what give each of us the ability to play a game we may never have thought we could.
The art pieces that will be displayed at the Gallery have been created under the guidance of R’ Michoel Muchnik, Mrs Esther Schneerson, Estee Klein and a team of volunteers. Each of the 99 pieces, which are a mix of paintings, mosaics and watercolors, have been professionally framed and hung for the exhibit, and are available for purchase on Sunday. The gorgeous “Collectors Edition” Coffee Table book will also be available.
The whole community – men, women and children – are invited to join, whether it’s to purchase a piece or to view and show support.
Dairy Hors D’oeuvres and cocktails will be served. Entry is complimentary; show bags will be distributed to each family.
Thanks to the Bear Givers Foundation, all proceeds from the sales will benefit future programs of the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn.
