One thousand Anash and bochurim walked on Shvi’i shel Pesach to more then two hundred synagogues and community centers in the New York city area.
Organized by Lubavitch Youth Organization, some even walked from Brooklyn’s Crown Heights for more then three hours to Borough Park, Flatbush, Brighton Beach, Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay, Canarsie, Sea Gate, Howard Beach and Manhattan.
In each location the Lubavitch men spoke about the Baal Shem Tov’s custom to hold a meal for Moshiach on the last day of the Pesach holiday.
Known in Chabad as Tahalucha, the Rebbe established the walk years ago and stood in front of Lubavitch World Headquarters in 770 Eastern Parkway to watch them leave together, while singing and humming.
“Whoever saw the Tahaluchos leave felt like this is a march of soldiers abiding the command of the Commander in chief,” Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Director of Lubavitch Youth, said,
His son Rabbi Yossi Butman, Rabbi Yehuda Blatner and bochurim Yosef Goldwasser and Shlomo Zalmanov were in touch with NYPD to coordinate the mass walk.
