Thousands Unite Before 3 Tammuz

Tens of thousands around the US and Canada joined simultaneously for “Connection & Commitment: A live, interactive coast-to-coast farbrengen” in preparation for Gimmel Tammuz last Sunday.

Anash communities gathered together at large scale events to participate, including over 2,000 men, women and children in South Florida at an event made possible with the assistance of Vaad Agudas Chabad Haolamis, over 1,000 in Los Angeles, CA, 800 in Crown Heights, 800 in Montreal, Canada and several hundred in Pittsburgh, PA, Monsey, NY and Houston, Texas.

Viewings around the world included Antwerp, London, Tzfas, Toronto, Minnesota, Detroit and Yeshivos such as Tzeirei Hashluchim of Tzfas and Oholei Torah in Crown Heights.

In addition to the in-person participants at the above mentioned locations, another 36 thousand joined individually, with their families and in groups – from over 45 countries – via the live broadcast on COLlive.com and Chabad.org.

Host Rabbi Mendel Kaplan of Chabad Flamingo kept the program moving, which included Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar and Shluchim Rabbis Moshe Bryski and Mendel Lipskar.

Famed performer Bentzy Marcus of the popular 8th Day band performed live during the program, which also included the Pittsburgh Yeshiva Boys Choir and a segment of children reading a Pan at the Rebbe’s Ohel in Cambria Heights, Queens.

Many around the world were inspired and moved by the historic event.

“It was a beautiful and very smoothly run program. I can’t imagine how much work went into that,” said one Shliach. “Mechaya Nefoshos Mamosh!”

“Yashar koiach for organizing the event,” a Shliach from Europe wrote, “It’s the first time I am sitting at home and I can Mamosh see the Ohel live!”

A Daily Family Hachana program for Gimmel Tamuz was introduced at the event.

The family-oriented booklet includes daily short inspiration from the Rebbe and daily “Action Items” for all ages. The booklet is published by KidsChitas.org and Vaad Or Vechom Hahiskashrus.
