A unique day-long inspirational and educational seminar will be helping Jews from all walks of life to connect and learn from the Rebbe, in preparation for the 20th yartzeit on Gimmel Tammuz.
Set to take place on Sunday, June 29 at Queens College, the full-day of inspirational programming promises to elucidate the deep meaning of the day to Jewish visitors from all backgrounds, who will be arriving to the Rebbe’s gravesite in Queens accompanied by their local Shluchim Rabbis.
The day of lectures and learning will be capped off with a plenary session at the Colden Auditorium, featuring personal interviews, a musical and visual tribute to the Rebbe and keynote addresses by Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi David Lau, Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky – Chairman of Merkos, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky – Vice-chairman of Merkos, Rabbi Adin Even-Yisroel Steinzaltz – Author of “My Rebbe” and Mrs. Rivkah Slonim – Shlucha in Binghamton, NY.
Each year at the Rebbe’s Yartzeit, thousands of Jews from across the globe descend on the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens. Jews of all stripes, young and old, come to daven and reflect, each with their own private prayers. The Soul Encounters event, organized by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), is designed to inspire participants with focus on the Rebbe and his impact.
Lectures will be held on varied topics for practical application of the Rebbe’s teachings, such as “Relating to the Rebbe Today,” “Face-to-face Social Networking: The Rebbe’s Unique Approach to Bringing Jews Back to Judaism,” and “How the Rebbe Taught Us to See the Consciousness in Everything.”
Open to men and women, refreshments, gourmet meals, and continued in-depth study on all levels will await participants on their return from the Rebbe’s Ohel in Cambria Heights, just a few minutes drive away.
A top slate of renowned speakers, academics, and shluchim are taking part in the programming throughout the day, including Rabbi Yoel Kahan, Rabbi Shmuel Lew, Rabbi Sholom Lipskar, Rabbi Mendel Kaplan, Dr. Shmuel Klatzkin, Rabbi Sholom Moshe Paltiel, Professor Lawrence H. Schiffman, Rabbi Ari Shishler and more.
“We make many efforts to be mekarev our balei battim to Torah, Mitzvos, and Chassidus,” wrote one shliach recently, “yet perhaps the greatest thing we can do for them is bring them to the Rebbe.”
On a day filled with profound meaning, heartache, and hope, JLI hopes that Soul Encounters will help visitors to the Ohel experience Gimmel Tammuz in a truly impactful way, one with which they can return home and share the Rebbe’s vision for humanity to those around them.
