Author Dovid Zaklikowski will present this Shabbos at the Besht Center about the Rebbe and Rebbe Rayatz’s beseeching of their Chassidim not to relocate to Crown Heights.
Titled The Queen Was Sent to Cleveland, the Rebbe Rayatz, he will explain “the Rebbe’s battle against chassidic colonialism,” in contrast of how other religious communities built themselves after the Holocaust.
Weaving together a narrative through documents, he will portray how the Rebbe made repeated requests that instead of moving close to them, to move to communities even where there was no Jewish infrastructure.
The lecture will be based off Zaklikowski’s new book The Queen of Cleveland: A Life of Self-Sacrifice and Courage about the life of Rebbetzin Shula Kazen.
