Great article

These are all excellent points. I’m just wondering – did a Mashpia have a chance to review this? I’d be interested to hear what a Mashpia would say.

A mashpia and how, when and if one chooses to engage with theirs, is a personal choice. Your wondering about whether the “great article” writer consulted with his mashpia about the article is 100% his domain and 0% yours. I’d ask if you asked your mashpia before posting your comment, but I’d then be guilty of the same boundary encroachment. Peace

u misrepresented the original comment, he wasn’t talking about a personal mashpia, he just wanted the perspective of “a” mashpia as opposed to a therapist

If I’m not mistaken, the question of what a Mashpia would have to say was not a question about the author’s personal “asei lecha rav”, but a question of what someone who truly lives entirely in the world of chassidus and the Rebbe’s viewpoint on life would have to say about the article.

Thorough piece

Thanks for creating and positing it. Definitely not for someone who has the attention span of headlines and three sentences…

That most people’s issues fall in the grey area and much of our generation looks to therapy to solve problems that can really be addressed by working on ourselves through chassidus. Unfortunately many use therapy as a tool to “justify” and “excuse” bad behavior of their nefesh habahamis and it emboldens them against being correctly spiritually self aware. Therapy so to speak “sophisticates” the nefesh habahamis- and gives it fancy words to excuse bad behavior. Example “I don’t think I’ll have that extra guest and push myself , as it’s not good for my mental health.” No… pull up an… Read more »

Excellently written. Finally, someone saying the truth about today’s lack of moral justification.

A person who is only looking to indulge their nefesh Habahamis is not going to spend time and money going to therapy. If someone doesn’t want guests, they just don’t host guests. They don’t go to therapy for it. Someone might go to therapy if they DO want guests but there’s something holding them back… like anxiety, or maybe the husband and wife are not on the same page about how many guests to have or what the home should look like. These are examples of why someone might go to therapy instead of “just pushing through” and going on… Read more »

TO THE PERSON ASKING ABOUT MASHPIA
March 24, 2025 2:26 am

I believe you missed the point of this article. Not only missed the point but took it to mean the exact opposite of the concepts that are discussed here!
You should probably reread the article. Hopefully you will come to understand why your question about whether or not a mashpia reviewed it proves that the author’s message is so needed.

Why?

How is asking about mashpia “missing the point of the article”?

Yes, in fact, I shared this article with multiple Mashpi’im and all of them were enthusiastically encouraging.
