how hard is it to actually be a shliach in crown hights? lubavitch schools, kosher restaraunts, i cant say its actually hard.

I agree with number 3

Mechanchim and Mechanchos ARE invited to the Kinus

amazing people with true ahavas yisrael in CH
November 24, 2011 12:03 am

I am awed by so many people in Crown Heghts who reach out to others with a full heart. It’s still true that a lot of people get lost here and need support.I notice that people who became frum through shluchim outside of CH and move here get a lot more support and feel like they have family behind them more than people who became frum here. It’s a hard place to live but B”H there are incredible shluchim here.

shliach needed!
November 23, 2011 10:20 pm

to teach some people not to call others who are not on their level “lite”.

The Rebbe was against the term “kiruv rechokim” for obvious reasons which every shliach would be glad to inform you of

LET'S HEAR IT FOR INREACH!!!
November 23, 2011 9:58 pm

Definitely more inreach is needed. Chabad on Campus on some of our local NYC campuses is sorely lacking..Where are the Shabbatons for college students that every campus Shliach makes? Where are the Friday night dinners??Where is Chabad for us local college people?????

i dont think he is saying that we need Rabbi Kotlarsky to put ch into the roll call. That’s not particularly a problem for most people (i hope). Like you said the roll call is an exciting and amazing part of the kinnus but anyways it doesn’t benefit the shluchim in any of those ways. What the author is saying is that ch really needs some help with a lot of things. I personally agree; as strange as it feels to say this, i think ch needs an official shliach. So many things that used to be such a part… Read more »

The Point
November 23, 2011 3:21 am

The details in the article are irrelevant THE POINT IS WHAT SHOULD BE NOTICED. There is a good point behind those words. reread the article and think.

Done Deed.
November 23, 2011 1:59 am

Crown Heights already has several prominent and, to varying degrees, successful individuals who reach out to our youth, to troubled adults, and to us simple folk who just want to share our thoughts/problems with people of experience, people who’ve ” been around the block” a lot, so to speak. We can’t have “A” shaliach here. There is no one person that every type of seeker will relate to. Hence, we have several choices of chassidim and chassidestehs involved in Crown Heights “shlichus.” May they all be gebentched…

CH Is Mentioned
November 23, 2011 1:31 am

RAbbi Kotlarsky always mentions the state of NY and points out that it all started in KAN TZIVAH!!!!! I work 3000 miles away from Montreal and Toronto,in a very different kind of Shlichus from those who live in those big cities. yet until last year we were all summed up as Canada. Today we are called up by the different provinces, but he cannot specify each city. The roll call would take hours!
Hatzlacha in your own shlichus!

Collive is the shliach of Crown Heights. Look at all the opeds it runs about problems in Crown Heights and how it unites people of opposing viewpoints by letting them voice their opinions. And it informs people about events in Crown Heights. Thank you, Collive.

November 22, 2011 11:29 pm

You all missed the point. The quesion is not is there or should ther be shluchim in crownheights, rather is chabad to involved in out reach that they have forgotten about inreach ? The answer is a obvious yes.

True, the Rebbe MHM set up the system of shlichut. Also true,
the Rebbe MHM said clearly that EVERY Yid is now a shliach. That is the point of the new shlicut, set up by the Rebbe MHM, a long with the main schlichut, to M’kabel P’nei Moshiach Tzidkeinu. Just like we are Dor Shevii, whether we like it or not, we are ALL on schlichut, sent by the Rebbe MHM, whether we like it or not. Let’s do our job.

when my sons were in yeshiva here, there were 2 great yeshivas O.T. and ULY. however there was nothing available for boys/girls with problems. Today B”H there are quite a few. Every new yeshiva that is geared to helping our children is run by a dedicated staff (a SHALIACH OR 2) AND THEY DESERVE TO BE RECOGNIZED

New shliach of ch
November 22, 2011 8:41 pm

The idea is good, however to say that crown heights has many messed up kids and let’s have a shliach to help then, just shifts the responsibility away from us as parents. The way shoo his is supposed to work is those who are strong in their chassidishkeit and frumkeit go out all over the world. But everyone else must stay together in a community so that we can all strengthen each other. This only works if the community has high standards that keep us growing. Today unfortunately there are many elements that are bringing us down. Realistically, families are… Read more »

CH is blessed with Rabbonim, Mechanchim and some shayne Yidden. Unfortunately most of this talent is not utilized. Every Bais Kneses, Shul and Minyan in CH should have a Rav or/and Mashpia with Kvias Itim for both men and women. Things will then improve. While on the subject Tznius is a major issue . A story is perhaps in place. A Chassid of a Polisher Rebbe was suddenly once plagued with a host of problems. His Parnossa took a slide, two of his children were stricken with a very painful illness etc etc. He and his wife travel to their… Read more »

The truth hurts.
And since it seems to hurt so very much to so many people, I can only conclude that it more true than anyone would care to admit…

To point out
November 22, 2011 6:46 pm

I am impressed that many of the comments on this site notice the fact that someone is working hard to start a juicy argument. That aside, it seems like people are giving themselves an inferiority complex for no reason. No one is saying that the Kinnus is the only Lubavitch event and no one is saying that Shluchim run Lubavitch. In fact, the opposite is true. Shlichus is but one aspect and a mere offshoot of what Chabad Chassidus is. The fact that people that live in a Chabad community and decide to define their importance based on whether they… Read more »

many of crown heightzers can go if they wanted to myself included, and i have no rensentment desire to go.
however, it would be nice if the shluchim didnt look down upon crown heightzers.

it will be more effective and beneficial to the community if we didn’t have a nasty comment or sometimes any comment.
rather we must learn to overlook our egos and take action when needed even if we feel like its not our place.
when we do things with sincerity then it will go a long way.

Shlichus
November 22, 2011 5:46 pm

The fact that Crown Hieghts even needs a specific Shlichus or Chabad House is a sad situation but might be the reality. Also the reality is the Rebbe sent Shluchim to spread Yiddishkiet to those not yet there. We all have a “shlichus” to do in this world but that is different than the “Shluchim” the Rebbe sent. Please appreciate that included in NY State are all it’s communities. As well, I’m not sure why there is a comment made that Shluchim that indeed are able to fundraise in Crown Heights are ungrateful…I would have to disagree & sure there… Read more »

November 22, 2011 5:19 pm

there is definitely a feeling of resentment that CH residents display come the banquet of the kinus. I feel it every year when I come. but what many fail to realize is that: 1)shlichus is a job for every Jew-man, woman, child whether you get recognition here or not-you get plenty of recognition by the One who Sees and Hears all-that’s the main thing 2)how many times do you go to a simcha in CH? Bar Mitzvah? lchaim? wedding? do u know that for a big percentage of shluchim (myself incl) this banquet is about the only event that can… Read more »

November 22, 2011 5:10 pm

When they announce ny state there is a SPECIAL mention of crown heights.

I’d write an op-Ed about why it SHOULNT be mention. (farmers that sit and bash shulchim shouldn’t be given credit as the “people that started it all and give support to shluchim, the residents of the headquarters, kan tziva Hashem es habracha” – direct quote from roll call.)

Real c h shluchim are included in the hundreds of other real ny state shluchim.

November 22, 2011 3:24 pm

Here comes the truth. Merkoz never gave proper recognition to local Shluchim, I can prove my point so clearly that the people at Merkoz would agree. The real reason is cause nobody likes to deal with the guy in your neighborhood, and their a little intimidated by them ( based in things I witnessed ). I know so many people that do Shlichus full time, and they can’t get registered to be under Merkoz ( with all the benefits that come along ) and tell them to go to Tzach etc….. Just because you want people to read your dribble doesn’t mean that you know what you’re talking about.

Some people say what they think and others think what they say, which category are you?

You don’t have to answer, the article speaks volumes.
