A Chabad Shliach in Italy recently came across a public letter from the Rebbe which he saved, and is certain that it was written for our times.
It was written on Hei Teves 5736, ahead of the Asara B’Teves day of fasting marking when Babylonian troops surrounded Jerusalem leading to the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash and exile.
In the letter, the Rebbe asks Chassidim to increase in Torah, Tefillah and Tzedaka, noting that it was a way to “strengthen” the holy land of Israel both physically and spiritually.
Following the letter, the Rebbe also said a Sicha on Erev Shabbos Parshas Vayigash of that year in which he expanded on what was written.
Following that, Chassidim went out to many Shuls around New York City to share with the public pointers of what the Rebbe said, encouraging them to follow the spiritual effort.
The original letter is published here on COLlive.com and the sicha was printed this week by Lahak Publications.
